Wengen for Families

If there’s a child (or adult) in your family that loves trains, Wengen is the resort for them. With the funicular railway line up from Lauterbrunnen bringing trains in like clockwork (this being Switzerland) and then continuing up another few thousand metres to Europe’s highest railway station, the Jungfraujoch.

You can arrive from the airport very easily by smooth Swiss trains right from the terminal and you can take the train up the mountain in the morning to ski down, just as the first British tourists did a century or so ago, before the ski lifts were built. The resulting ‘Downhill Only’ ski club is still operational in resort.

Besides the train,Wengen is just perfect for families, with its compact, pedestrianised centre, stunning scenery, some good family-friendly restaurants and easy to moderate ski slopes. The whole family can enjoy being somewhere very special together.
