Villars has several dozen good bars and a young crowd, to some extent helped by all the Swiss boarding and finishing schools around the village, so while its après ski scene isn’t wild, it is usually fun and busy.
L'After in Rôtisserie des Alpes (+41 (0)24 495 21 26) is one of the more popular venues and often has live music, particularly blues. Villar's Jazz Bar (Le Sporting; +41 (0)24 495 44 51) is the place to go if you prefer cigars, an English language newspaper and of course some jazz, nice. We also enjoyed stops at Le BeAr Bar which has a nice laid back atmosphere and easy to remember opening hours – 11 to 11 daily.
The liveliest spot is often Charlie's Bar (Route des Hôtels; +41 (0)24 495 75 95; which has live music or djs, free wifi and opens daily (except Sunday) from 5pm. Officially it’s for over 18s only. The associated El Gringo nightclub (+41 (0)24 495 79 20) has the great tagline, “Don't Siesta... Come & Fiesta !!!” and really doesn’t need more plugging than that. It’s open from 10.30pm nightly except Mondays.
Other relaxed lounge bars include Le Green for a signature 19th hole cocktail or a vin chaud or the Moon Boot Lounge (Rue Centrale; +41 (0)24 495 19 63; moonbootlounge.com) for cool tunes, a delectable cocktail menu and a long wine list.
