Andermatt has four mountain restaurants spread across the different sectors, and as with the eateries down in town, the food is normally good and the prices reasonable. Options include the Restaurant Natschen in the beginners area which has a terrace for sunny days or the brick built Gurschen. Restaurants In Andermatt
There are around 20 places to eat in Andermatt itself. Good value and good quality are the norm and mostly hotel restaurants serving traditional Alpine cuisine.
If you fancy a change then for Italian cuisine try the La Curva trattoria and pizzeria in the where the pizzas are cooked in a wood fired oven, and meat and fish dishes on a charcoal grill.
The River House Restaurant (+41 (0)41 887 0025; Gotthardstrasse 58; theriverhouse.ch) offers some of the most innovative cuisine in the village. The hotel’s American cooks create an interpretation of the local and regional dishes with a modern twist to them using only market fresh products sourced from local suppliers whenever possible.
Andermatt does not have a huge selection of food shops but there are enough to cater for most requirements. The Baumann bakery is the place for your morning croissant and bread. Later on for prepared meat dishes go to the village butchers, Muheim. For all other grocery needs the small Coop supermarket should have it covered but there’s also a locally owned food store.
