The Ultimate Guide to the best Spas in and around Val Thorens
Sun 01 Dec 2024 - Sun 08 Dec 2024
We are hard at work getting our hotel only search, and influencer search ready for you. In the mean time please try our Flight and Hotel search or give us a call to find your perfect holiday.
As you might expect from a resort with standards as high as its mountains, Val Thorens offers a plentiful choice of exquisite spas. You will find everything from traditional Japanese tea massage at the Hotel Val Thorens to Russian banyas (that’s a sauna to you and me!) at Le Hameau du Kashmir’s and everything in between. Many of the hotels offer a full range of health and beauty treatments which are payable locally. If a great spa is important to you at your hotel then take a look at the Hotel Koh-I-Nor which has a brand new spa area; featuring multiple pools, steam rooms and saunas as well as experience showers and even an ice fountain, this spa is nothing short of spectacular!
There is also an abundance of facilities at the Val Thorens Sports Centre (+33 (0)4 79 00 00 76) where the Aquaclub offers a 7,500 square metre facility which has two swimming pools, one of which is a balneo pool, spa, jacuzzis, Turkish bath, saunas, artificial solarium, relaxation area and river showers. There are also sun beds, water massaging beds and Australian saunas. Best of all there are a number of squash, tennis and football facilities as well as a Funpark for the kids and a large weight training gym with a full range of equipment to keep the whole family entertained whilst you relax!
Here is a list of some of our favourite spas in Val Thorens:
Put simply, the Hotel Koh-I-Nor’s spa is magnificent. It is 800m2 of pure luxury, offering facilities to suit every need. There are 2 swimming pools and a fitness room if you would like to work off some of that famous French cheese or if you would rather take a load off, then simply chill out in the relaxation area or solarium. You can also take your pick from the experience showers, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, salt wall or ice fountain to find a new way of curing those aching limbs we like to refer to as ‘ski legs’. Additionally, all the usual beauty therapies such as massage are also available, performed to highest standards.
Le Hameau du Kashmir’s spa offers a wonderful area to relax after a big day on the slopes. To help ease those ski legs there are three different types of sauna; one is classic, one infra-red and one Russian style ‘banya’ as well as a solarium to unwind in. There is also a swimming pool and gym, that is if you haven’t already worked hard enough on the piste!
Residence L’Oxalys boasts not one but two spas, ensuring that neither gets too crowded so there is always a quiet spot for you to relax. Both feature a swimming pool, steam room, Jacuzzi and sauna. The smaller of the two areas is reserved for customers of the ‘Grand Confort’ apartments and also encompasses a private area for massage.
The spa at Hotel Val Thorens is new and is the perfect retreat. The indoor swimming pool has enchanting views of the mountains as well as a sauna and Turkish baths. However the most exciting part of this spa is undoubtedly the exceptional quality of the treatments on offer. There are a range of treatments available but we particularly love the Theishu – traditional Japanese tea master – massages.
All of the baths at the Residence Montana Plein Sud have a hydromassage function, ideal for rejuvenating tired legs in the privacy of your own apartment. If, after that, you would like some more tender loving care then you won’t have far to go. The hotel’s Les Bains du Montana spa will take care of all of your needs with a full range of relaxation and beauty treatments as well as an indoor pool, steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi, all within a setting so tranquil you might not want to leave.
Anyone staying at the Residence Village Montana will enjoy access to the onsite spa which features a steam room, sauna and relaxation area.
When you come in off the slopes to the Chalet Altitiude, you can dip into the onsite swimming pool or make use of the sauna to recharge your batteries ready to take on another day on the hill.
If you are staying at the Chalet Val, it is just short stroll to the Chalet Altitude, where you can enjoy full use of the swimming pool and sauna.
Hermine – Chalet des Neiges offers a delightfully heated swimming pool and sauna, perfect for melting away the aches of a day on the mountain. Guests can also benefit from the wellness centre at Plein Sud, where there are a range of spa therapies on offer at special rates for guests of Hermine.
Plein Sud – Chalet des Neiges has a wellness centre, perfect for relaxing at the end of a long day with a massage or one of the many other treatments on offer. You can also unwind and soothe those legs in the sauna or if you still have energy to burn then there is a fitness room available as well.
