Restaurants and Dining

Mountain Restaurants

There are four mountain restaurants spread out throughout the terrain, each offering filling mountain cuisine, in mostly small-medium sized restaurants with terraces. La Fema (+33 (0)4 79 05 90 98) is one of the more rustic. Le Relais du Col (+33 (0)4 79 59 47 84) is also a good choice. For a quick snack or a full meal you can also stop off at La Ranova. Alternatively there are more dining options at the base of the slopes, particularly in Lanslevillard, and you may also be able to ski to your accommodation for a homemade lunch in some instances.

Restaurants in Town

There are about a dozen places to eat in both villages, at busy times, especially in the French holiday periods this limited capacity can be a problem and it is well worth reserving your table.

Lanslevillard has several new establishments mixed in with long time village favourites. L'Arcelle (Place du Toron; +33 (0)4 79 05 93 98) and Le Tetras Lyre (+33 (0)4 79 05 98 03) are both good for pizza. L'Etoile des Neiges (Rue Saint Landry; +33 (0)4 79 05 90 41) is a bright friendly restaurant serving French favourites. There are several more similar.

In Lanslebourg the La Vieille Poste (“the old post office”)(+33 (0)4 79 05 93 47; http://www.lavieilleposte.com) at the top of the high street, is something of an institution and is a great rustic location in which to enjoy the best of French mountain food – fondues, raclette, tartiflette as well as plenty of other menu choices. La Vanoise (+33 (0)4 79 05 86 16) is good for pizza.

Grocery Shops

Both Lanslebourg and Lanslevillard have a selection of traditional French food shops including bakeries, butchers and delicatessens.
There are several shops in both villages that specialise in local cheeses, in Lanslebourg it’s the Fromagerie Gravier (Rue de la Ramasse; +33 (0)4 79 05 92 45). The Cooperative Laitiere de Haute Maurienne sells Beaufort and Bonneval Bleu cheeses direct from the small manufacturers in both Lanslebourg (36 rue de l'Arc; +33 (0)4 79 05 92 79) and Lanslevillard (L'Envers; +33(0) 4 79 05 82 64)

There are several small supermarkets in both villages too, including branches of Sherpa in both as well as a Petit Casino and a small Spar in Lanslevillard and Il Vostro Giardino (44 Rue du Mont Cenis; +33 (0)4 79 05 42 91) in Lanslebourg.
