Verbier Attractions

Because of its unique character, Verbier offers many ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunities, but the animal-centred ones are a little less famous than its extreme slopes. You can, for example, go dog sledding with huskies as at many ski resorts these days, but a more unusual option is to have your sled pulled by St Bernards, offered by Fondation Barry (+41 (0)27 722 12 27; http://www.fondation-barry.ch).

Verbier Shopping

Verbier has multiple shops including more than its fair share of fashion retailers, a good range of gift and souvenir shops and a selection of jewellers that also stock fine Swiss watches.

Among the more sophisticated boutiques are Sabi (+41 (0)27 771 44 91; http://www.sabi-verbier.ch/boutique.htm) and children will be happy to spend time in Toy's World (+41 (0)27 771 27 61).

You’ll also find a photographic store, post office, newsagents (Kiosque Naville; +41 (0)27 771 31 21), a stationers (Aux Galeries, +41 (0)27 771 10 26), a chemists and a florist (Gailland Fleurs SA; +41 (0)27 771 66 43)
