Val d’Isère has a reputation for some of the liveliest nightlife in the Alps and there are dozens and dozens of bars and night spots to choose from. Everything from a casual beer to the very best champagne, Val d’Isère has great après options for everyone.
The party in Val d’Isère starts before you even get off the mountain. You will hear it before you see it, as the infamous La Folie Douce gets the music and the crowds pumping from about 3pm and is particularly buzzing towards the end of the week.
Situated at the top of the La Daille gondola, the crowd here is wild so make sure you have learned how to dance in your ski boots! Getting back down the mountain after a bit too much ‘Folie fun’ can be tricky, but luckily the La Daille gondola is open for down-lifts if a few drinks have made riding down seem a little sketchy.
And remember that there's a number of great restaurants attached to La Folie Douce including La Fruitière which offers a relaxed atmosphere, table service, superb food and a great wine list, as well as Italian restaurant La Cucùcina.
But don’t just take our word for it… check out the revelry at La Folie Douce for yourself:
Another great start to aprés is Cocorico, situated (conveniently!) just upstairs from the Doudoune club, above the Olympic gondola - there are just a few metres of piste to negotiate once this place closes so you can really let your hair down! They have live music most afternoons starting about 3pm, they play a good mix of popular covers and there is a great atmosphere on the outside terrace, complete with heaters to keep everyone warm. Later on, a DJ takes over and the dancing moves to the table tops as the party continues all the way to 8pm.
Once you get yourself (safely!) down the hill there are loads of options for grabbing a beverage in town. Many of the bars have happy hours starting at 3 or 4pm, perfect for when you come off the slopes.
If the sun is out then head to creperie Grand Marnier, with plenty of tables out on the piste you can enjoy anything from coffee to vin chaud along to accompany your pancake.
For a quieter option try Rosée Blanche at the bottom of the piste in La Daille. With a great deck to sit out on, Rosée Blanche is especially great if you are staying at Residence La Daille or Residence Les Balcons de Bellevarde, just a few steps away, we have even heard whispers that the Rosée Blanche’s vin chaud is the best in town!
Once the ski boots are off and you head into town there are still a number of options; for a nice cocktail try the Lounge Bar at the Hotel Avenue Lodge where the delightful surroundings make for a lovely pre or post dinner drink.
Le Jack at the L'Aigle des Neiges is another lovely choice for a sophisticated drink.
If you are looking for something a little livelier then look no further than The Fall Line bar, a recent addition to the Val d’Isère après scene this place fills up fast after the lifts close and is securing its reputation as one of the places to be seen in Val d’Isère.
Le Petit Danois is also a great shout for happy hour, with a live band on 6 nights of the week and a free shot with every drink purchased between 4-7pm, it's not surprising that they pull in a great crowd!
A special mention goes to Bananas which has been a Val d'Isère institution for 30 years beforte it was completely detsroyed by a fire in 2011 - luckily when it was shut! Thankfully, Bananas has been resurrected from the ashes and is up and running.
Most of the bars in Val d’Isère close at 1.30am but fear not, if you like to party long into the night there are a couple of clubs which will keep you going until 4am.
The name you will hear over and over is Dick’s Tea Bar. Renowned across the Alps, Dick’s is popular with almost everyone who heads out in Val d’Isère and offers revelers a busy bar and a packed dancefloor.
Lastly, you can catch some big name DJ’s such as Pete Tong and MOS at Doudoune. It gets packed out on big nights so it’s worth checking out what is on while you are in resort and picking a great night to go.
