Ice climbing is one of several adventure sports available in Les Saisies along with dog sledding, snowmobiling and much more. Although it may sound daunting for non-climbers, local expert Yves Olbrecht (+33(0)6 18 09 84 70) is happy to teach any ability on the ice fall close to the village, even complete beginners, on his half day course.
Les Saisies has about 40 shops, a little over a quarter being food stores of one kind or another and a similar proportion are ski shops. The remainder are mainly divided in to chemist, newsagents and other ski holiday essential suppliers. However, although most likely needs are catered for, this is not really a resort for recreational shoppers, with just a few souvenir shops. Esprit Montagn'Art (462 av. des Jeux Olympiques, Centre commercial le Tavaillon; +33(0)4 79 38 94 99) and La Montagnette (477 av. des Jeux Olympiques; +33(0)4 79 38 91 95) are two of the better gift shops.
