Ski Resort Attractions

Ski joering – the ancient practice of being towed behind a horse on your skis, has really taken off in France in recent years, thanks in part to the invention of a special semi-rigid harness by a gentleman in Les Arcs that allows you to stop when the pony stops without sliding in to its back end! At La Clusaz ski joeing is offered by the Aravis Passion riding school (+33 (0) 6 15 65 11 11). Generally you’ll be towed along at a gentle pace for several kilometres, but if you want to try it at a gallop, that may be arranged if you sign a disclaimer!

Shopping in La Clusaz

With more than 100 shops, La Clusaz has much better shopping than most other French resorts. There’s a great range of traditional food shops where you can buy Savoyard products to take home and a far bigger choice of souvenir stores where you can buy items created by local artisans. Chocolats Morand is an increasingly legendary chocolatiere in the heart of the village and there’s also a good weekly market that sells more than just food.
