On The Mountain

There are so many mountain restaurants in Val d'Isère where you can take in the stunning views of your awesome surroundings. Here are a few of the best and most popular mountain restaurants, where you can make the most of your lunch on the slopes:

La Plage de l’Ouillette: you can't beat the location of this bar and restaurant,

La Fruitière: located within La Folie Douce, La Fruitière is the perfect spot for a lazy lunch in the sun with its huge terrace and lovely views. The menu features classic French dishes with a focus on cheese, including a fondue made with local Beaufort cheese. Enjoy the traditional mountain fayre on offer at this gourmet restaurant before you hit the slopes for the afternoon. Or you could settle in with an Aperol Spritz and wait for the party to get going at La Folie?

La Peau de Vache: the number one restaurant in Val d'Isère according to TripAdvisor - "Outstanding location, outstanding food" - this mountain restaurant is located at the top of the Bellevarde piste with some of the best views on offer in Val d'Isère and a fantastic rustic feel. The menu at La Peau de Vache is traditionally French, serving snails, foie gras, tartiflette, gourmet salads and, needless to say, filet de boeuf. Not to be missed!

Le Signal: located at the top of the Fornet cable car, Restaurant Le Signal is a good choice for meeting up with any non-skiers in your group, as you can ride the cable car as a pedestrian until 5pm. There's a self-service as well as a more formal restaurant, depending on your mood and your budget. Don't miss the end of season party on the last Saturday in April if you happen to be in town.

La Tete de Solaise: another restaurant in the Solaise ski area, boasting stunning views of the surrounding mountains. They serve traditional French cuisine and have a great selection of wines.

René: new for the 2022/23 winter season, René is located on the Mangard slope in Le Fornet. Offering delicious starters, barbecued meats and fish, and sophisticated desserts.

L’Empreinte Avaline: another addition for this winter, this gourmet bistrot at the crossroads of the Grand Pré sector is great for for a quick lunch. Expect quality cuisine and a warm atmopshere.
