Although snow in the Alps isn’t unheard of in October, the amount that’s fallen over the last few days has been more than enough to get us excited about the possibility of another fantastic season.
We’ve still got two months before we can get our skis on and head for the slopes in most Alpine resorts - and we’ve got our fingers crossed that the snow stays put for the winter – but these webcam images taken from Avoriaz, Val Thorens and La Plagne this morning are definitely a good sign!
Some critics will argue it’s too early to predict what snow conditions will be like for the coming season, but it’s much more than a light dusting in lots of resorts - with 35cm and 6 open lifts in Tignes already - and with temperatures steadily falling and mountains quietly turning white across the Alps, we’re certainly happy to look on the bright side. Even if you’re a bit more pessimistic, there are a couple of things you can’t deny - it’s getting colder and winter is definitely on the way!
