Is Midweek the best time to travel?

Traditionally ski holidays start and end on a weekend, however a recent report by consumer magazine Which? states that Tuesday is the cheapest day to travel. Their research found a Sunday was the most expensive.

The report reveals that an inbound Easy jet flight on a Sunday was 45 percent (£56) more expensive than a Tuesday. The traditional departure days may seem tempting but by travelling midweek, you take the same number of days off work as a weekend and avoid busy airports, transfers and check-in.

If you can be flexible,  Powderbeds have some tempting deals with a midweek arrival that sit very favourably when compared with a Saturday or Sunday departure.

A great example for those on a budget is Residence Cybele in Brides-Les-Bains, linked into the popular resort of Meribel. Seven nights accommodation beginning on the 22nd of January in a studio Apartment for four comes to just £250, including a 10% discount.

Another great midweek deal is the Residence Charmetogger in Les Arcs. A Studio Mezzanine for 6 people, leaving on the 12th of February costs a total of £628. That’s only £105pp!

Those keen for a livelier ski holiday, and looking to spend that extra money on some après-ski will be very interested in the Residence Les Balcons De Bellevarde in Val D’Isère. A one bedroom apartment that sleeps up to five people leaving on the 19th of March will set you back just £722, which includes an extra 20% discount from Powderbeds.

Another benefit of a midweek departure, aside from the cost, is avoiding that busy weekend transfer. Think also of the joys of the empty piste on the weekend, when for the rest of the resort it is transfer day and being able to actually ski on that dump of fresh snow which always comes just as you are about to leave.

For many, travelling at the weekend fits with school holidays or other commitments but if you can be flexible then we’d recommend looking into a midweek departure.
