Booking a Recession-Proof Ski Holiday

The financial markets are in turmoil. Goverment growth forceasts are getting constantly downgraded. It's all doom and gloom (or so the papers would have you believe), and you need to reign in your household spending.

It all sounds very depressing, but it needn't be. Here at PowderBeds we're keeping up our end of the bargain and have found some killer deals to prove that a skiing holiday doesn't have to break the bank.

We've even gone one step further and have pulled together a quick guide on how to book a cheap, recession-proof skiing holiday.

After all, saving's more fun if you have a skiing holiday to look forward to.

These tougher financial times have squeezed out more affordable deals to the Alps than ever before but as ever the key to getting the most bang for your buck is the timing. Go for the weeks either side of Christmas and half term and think about choosing resorts that are near to the larger airports, like Flaine, Avoriaz and St Gervais if you’re flying to Geneva.

Flights

There are some great deals on flights at the moment if you book far enough in advance. A return flight with Easyjet to Geneva from London Gatwick from the 10th of December, returning on the 17th comes to £51 including taxes!

Airport Transfers

And the final element to your ski holiday, the airport transfer. The Altibus offer great value shared bus transfers and this is a really good way to keep the costs of your ski holiday down.

10th Dec for 7 Nights        7th Jan for 7 Nights

Flaine -                      £69.44                                  £69.44

St Gervais -              £40.80                                  £40.80

If you keep these simple tips in mind you’ll quickly and easily put together a ski holiday that is recession proof, all for a total of:

10th Dec for 7 Nights       7th Jan for 7 Nights

Flaine -                      £352.44                               £528.42

So to recap, book your flights and accommodation nice and early to make the most of the early booking deals that are available at the moment. Pick the weeks either side of Christmas and New Year, Easter and Half Term. And finally, choose resorts near the major airports that have plenty of transfer options available like Flaine, Avoriaz and St Gervais for Geneva airport.
