Switzerland By Train: No pain, no planes and only one change!

We’re getting very excited about a new train service to Switzerland available to book from mid-October. Passengers will be able to climb aboard at London St Pancras, and won’t have to change until Lille - where a quick walk across a platform will be all it takes to get them Switzerland-bound on the TGV.

Stopping first in Geneva, the train will then whisk passengers onwards into the mountains, providing convenient access to some of our most spectacular Swiss resorts. From the station in Aigle, travellers will be able to make their way to either stunning Villars or unspoilt Les Diablerets in just over 20 minutes, or stay on the train until Sierre, which will leave them less than half an hour from sophisticated Crans Montana. The buzz of beautiful Zermatt is a 45 minute drive from the next stop, Visp, and sky-scraping Saas Fee is only an hour from the final stop in Brig.

As well as eliminating the hassle of early morning check-ins, nightmare transfers and waiting around in airports, the new service should delight seasoned Swiss train-catchers, who will no longer have to cart their skis across Paris to catch the TGV from Gare de Lyon. Add to all this the breathtaking scenery you’ll be able to take in from the comfort your seat and it seems there really isn’t a better way to get to all that delightful Swiss snow.
